New Final Fantasy XI leveling changes detailed, scrutinized
For those of us at Massively that own Final Fantasy XI it's been a little while since we sat down and played the game. This newest version update, however, is causing us to consider a return. Our biggest gripe with Final Fantasy XI was that while grouping was a lot of fun, it was also ridiculously hard to find one.

Stylized or realistic graphics?
World of Warcraft is probably the best known example of a game whose graphics don't strive for realism, but instead have a cartoony, colorful look. It is sometimes criticized for being unrealistic (or even 'childish'), but this arguably misses the point. A cartoonish style allows boundaries to be stretched, making for stylised, expressive landscapes, buildings and creatures, as well as armor and weapon designs that would otherwise be merely absurd. Fantasy doesn't have to be realistic. WAR also seems to be going down this path. Besides, there is also an interesting mmorpg game called age of conan.

The annual Sunbreeze Festival has come once again to the world of Final Fantasy XI's Vana'diel! Previous years have seen fun activities like goldfish scooping accompanying the late-summer event. This year is no different, with sideshow games and numerous festival exclusive items filling out the fun. What is different in 2008 is the performance art of Fantastic Fraulein Mumor! A mild-mannered professor's daughter by day, she transforms with the help of the "Miracle Wand" into a fantasy super-heroine.

Hands-on with Warhammer Online
Last week at Comic-Con in San Diego, I sat down with Warhammer Online producer Jeff Skalski and got my hands on the beta for the first time. I could go in-depth on all the new features and functions of the game, but our own Michael Zenke beat me to the punch on that one. Instead I want to give my impressions of the game from the perspective of a long-time MMOG player with little time to play these days and even less interest in PvP.
